Ian Chapel
Created by Paul Bishop

Add Paul Bishop's IAN CHAPEL to the long line of non-private eyes that are, nonetheless, a far cry from rank amateurs. Ian's a former world class soccer player from Britain who becomes an editor for Los Angeles-based Sporting Press magazine after he loses an eye. He goes undercover to investigate the murder of a soccer goalie in 1991's Chapel of the Ravens

Paul Bishop is a twenty-year vet with the LAPD, and has served as the head of the Sex Crimes and Major Assault Crimes units of the West Los Angeles Detective Division. Yet he still finds time to write, not just about Ian Chapel, but also series about Fey Croaker, a female homicide cop in LA, and Calico Jack Walker and Tina Tamiko, former cop partners who somehow usually manage to find something to keep themselves busy. A former second division soccer player back in England himself, Chapel of the Ravens is reputedly Bishop's personal favorite of all his novels. a second novel, Criminal Tendencies, was never published, although at one point it was due to appear in 1998.
