Criminal defense attorney C.A. (CAROLE ANN) GIBSON, a black woman with "a sharp mind, quick wit and big heart" and her lover, ex-homicide cop JAKE GRAHAM, are partners in CGI, an up-and-coming Washington, D.C. security firm, in this series by Penny Micklebury.

Micklebury is a former Washington Post reporter, who has worked in print, radio and television in Georgia, Washigton and New York, before turning to fiction. She also writes a series about lesbian cop Gianna Maglione and her reporter lover Mimi Patterson.
