A handsome face on a twisted deformed body is New York private eye GULLIVER DOWD‘s lot in life.
He’s so short he fills up “only the bottom half a mirror,” his arms and legs are too short for his squat body, his hands too big for his arms, his head too big for his body. And just for good measure, one leg’s longer than the other.
Not that his personal life is any bed of roses. His sister, a Brooklyn cop, was murdered, and he didn’t even know he had a daughter, until she was kidnapped.
But Gulliver abides — a determined and savvy investigator, a brooding but optimistic smart ass with a heart of gold. And a very large sidekick, Ahmed, for when the going gets tough.
And the going does get tough — surprisingly tough, considering the series is part of Orca Books’ Rapid Reads imprint, which publishes individually bound novellas “intended for a diverse audience, including ESL students, reluctant readers, adults who struggle with literacy and anyone who wants a high-interest quick read.”
