ANDREJEV & MILTON form the Finnish private detective agency in M.A. Numminen and Markku Into’s Etsivätoimisto Andrejev & Milton (1991) a parodic and self-parodic short novel told in the form of correspondence between the two authors. At the time, Into was living in Stockholm and Mr. Numminen was traveling in Finland and Europe.
More interesting than the book itself, perhaps, is the fact that Numminen and Into belonged to the late sixties underground movement. Nowadays though, Numminen is a respected musician and recording artist (he has recorded “Tractatus Logico-philosophicus” by Wittgenstein, for example), while Into was a well-known Finnish poet.
Into supposedly wrote another book about Milton in 2001. He has also translated Charles Bukowski’s Pulp and works by Allen Ginsberg, Lawrence Ferlinghetti and Gregory Corso into Finnish.
