Due to a typo (courtesy of some schmuck charged with painting the name on the door), JOHN HEADSTON ending up running the very successful HEADSTONE DETECTIVE AGENCY for several years, which at its peak, employed twelve people.
But those were better days. After a series of legal squabbles with New York State Licensing Agency — and a jail sentence — he lost his P.I. ticket.
When we meet him in The Headstone Detective Agency (2019), he’s no longer a spring chicken. He’s fifty, and he’s starting all over again. The agency is down to one operative — him. But at least he’s got his license back.
