Rhonda & Baby Bird

Created by James Patterson and Candace Fox

Two sisters, Colorado attorney RHONDA BIRD and her teenage half-sister sister BABY, try to make a go of the Los Angeles detective agency their late father left them.

Which comes as kind of a shock, since their dad had been an accountant.

But Rhonda’s up to the challenge. She’s no shrinking violet. She’s a hard-charging defense lawyer, weighing in at 260 pounds (“Some of it well earned muscle and some of it long-maintained fat”), who favors boldly dyed hair and rock T-shirts in court and drives an big ass 1972 Buick Skylark with a leopard skin paint job.

Supposedly a standalone, but this is Patterson, so we’ll see…

James Patterson is, of course, James Patterson, one of the best–selling writers of all time, having racked up over 375 million sales of his books (so far). Alone and with various co-authors he has written numerous standalones, as well as a slew of successful mystery series featuring  Alex Cross, the Women’s Murder Club, Detective Michael Bennett and the Private novels, about an international detective agency with branches all over the world.

Candice Fox is an Australian novelist who won the 2014 Ned Kelly Award for Best First Novel for Hades, and the creator of the Ted Conkaffey & Amanda Pharrell private eye series (the inspiration for the Troppo television series. She was born in the western suburbs of Sydney into a large family. She spent a brief period in the Royal Australian Navy before studying and teaching at university level. Since 2015, she has been collaborating on various projects with  Patterson, including the Harriet Blue series.
