Former New York City cop and U.S. Marshall MICHAEL PATRICK FINNIGAN, tired of being told what to do, and former Spanish soldier and sometime assassin, KATALIN FIERO, who never had much use for rules anyway,  team up to form St. Nicholas Salvage & Wrecking, an off-the-books bounty hunting operation, in a promising new thriller series by Dana Haynes, an award-winning newspaper reporter and columnist.  Based in Cyprus, they work under the table, chiefly for the presiding judge of the International Criminal Court, hunting down European criminals. So I guess they’re semi-legit.

But you didn’t hear it from me…

There’s lots of military talk, plenty of Ludlumesque squawk about conspiracies and international hijinks, and a coldly pragmatic Jack Reacher-type to keep things bopping — the twist here being that the Jack Reacher-type is Katalin, who’s infinitely more prone to violence than her more level-headed partner.
