Peregrine Fisher

Inspired by characters created by Kerry Greenwood
Created by Deb Cox & Fiona Eagger

Did you know Kerry Greenwood’s popular Jazz Age Australian eye Phryne Fisher had a niece?

Neither did I. I’m not even sure Kerry Greenwood knew.

But apparently MS. PEREGRINE FISHER, the star of a new Australian TV show, Ms Fisher’s MODern Murder Mysteries is that niece. Peregrine, played by Geraldine Hakewill, never knew her famous aunt, but when Phryne went missing somewhere over the highlands of New Guinea, her niece inherited a vast fortune

She can’t help it if she’s lucky…

With the help of her aunt’s friends in The Adventuresses’ Club, Peregrine sets out to become a world-class private detective in her own right, in swingin’ (well) 1964 Melbourne. We’ve been assured by co-creator Deb Cox that this new Ms. Fisher “will be as glamorous as her aunt, brandishing her signature pearl-handled  pistol and bantering endlessly with the main man in her life – but her stylish apartment, her sleek sports car and her cutting-edge wardrobe have certainly moved with the  times.”

“We’re very excited to tell our legion of Australian and international fans that we’re expanding the world of Miss Fisher into the fabulous era of the 1960s,” Peregrine’s other mother Fiona Eagger adds. “The series will be full of the usual three F’s our fans have come to expect – feminism, fashion and fun!”

“To see fabulous Phryne inspire a whole new generation of murder mysteries and for the Fisher family to expand in this way gives our lovely fans even more of what they crave. The 1960’s was another decade of exciting change for women and we’re all in for a real treat,” Kerry Greenwood says.

I guess the cheque cleared.
