At this point, it’s getting nigh on impossible to tell prolific pulpster Roger Torrey‘s seemingly endless private eyes apart.
On the surface, they seem almost indistinguishable from each other — they all tough, suitably hard-boiled dicks, and the same Irish-American surnames keep popping up. Halloran! Keogh!
MATT KEOGH appears in, as far as I can tell, only one short story, “Lady Killer,” narrated in third person for a change, in the August 1942 issue of Detective Story. John Keogh, perhaps a relative, likewise pops up in only one story.
Makes you think that if the sadly forgotten Torrey had given all these guys the same name, maybe he’d be more well known today.
