You know, you find private eyes in the strangest places…
RAFE GUTTMAN, the seedy, sarcastic, sardonic P.I. hero of the second Tales From The Crypt movie, Bordello Of Blood, is basically Dennis Miller, Private Eye. The wise-cracking stand-up comic, best known for his Weekend Update reports on the Saturday Night Live of the early Nineties, his socio-political “rants” on his own HBO series, and later spin around gig as a football announcer and right wing bloviator, gives Guttman exactly the same smart-ass persona developed for his comedy act.
Guttman’s perpetually broke, has an endless supply of sarcastic quips, lives in an old movie theater in Gaines Parish in Louisiana, and has seemingly few moral qualms about taking advantage of his clients.
In this horror-comedy, he’s hired by Katherine Verdoux, a beautiful young woman (Erika Eleniak) who’s punk younger brother Caleb has disappeared. Guttman tracks the kid (Corey Feldman) to a funeral parlor/bordello on the fringe of town, operated by a Madam named Lilith (Angie Everhart). Being a Tales From The Crypt movie, the bordello is staffed by a bevy of buxom vampire prostitutes who literally suck their customers dry.
The fun — if somewhat mindless — film (it was almost universally panned) also has a TV evangelist named Jimmy Current (Chris Sarandon) who has some connection to vampire queen Lilith. It also boats a killer dwarf, lots of bare breasts, a deluge of racy, barely double-entendres and copious bloodletting.

American filmmaker Robert Zemeckis is best known for directing and producing a range of successful and influential movies, often using special effects. An Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award winner, his credits include Romancing the Stone (1984), the Back to the Future trilogy (1985–1990), Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988), and Forrest Gump (1994), which won Academy Awards for both Best Picture and Best Director.
Bob Gale an American screenwriter, comic book writer, film producer and director, and a high school buddy of Robert Zemeckis, which is where they teamed up to write the original Bordello of Blood screenplay . “It was the first thing that Bob and I ever collaborated on,” he confessed in a 2016 interview, “(But) the movie that was made is so different than the movie that we conceived of, I’ll tell you flat out I’ve never even seen the final version of it because the early cut of it I saw, I was so appalled by it that I just said, ‘Okay, I’ll just leave that one to everybody else’.” Gale is best known for co-writing the Back to the Future trilogy with Zemeckis.
