And Other Louisiana Eyes
Award-winning author and former PWA Vice-Prez O’Neil De Noux is a former real-life police officer and private investigator. He writes all over the place, in numerous genres, but he currently also writes about New Orleans private eye Dino La Stanza and 1940s gumshoe Lucien Caye. Way back when this site first started, he kindly submitted a list of his favourite Louisiana eyes.Â
- Wesley Farrell by Robert Skinner
- Lew Griffin by James Sallis
- Neal Rafferty by Chris Wiltz
- Daniel Profit & Sheen Vicedomini by James Colbert
- Reno Sloan by John Edward Ames
Since O’Neil contributed that original list, there have been a few additions who claim Louisiana as their home turf that I feel obliged (and O’Neil was probably too humble) to mention:
- Johnny Bordelon by George Ogan (New Orleans)
- Scotty Bradley by Greg Herren (New Orleans)
- Lucien Caye by O’Neil De Noux (New Orleans)
- Burleigh Drummond by Kent Westmoreland (New Orleans)
- Pat Gallagher by Richard Helms (New Orleans)
- John LeGrand by Jude Roy (Ellisonville)
- Chanse MacLeod by Greg Herren (New Orleans)
- Dave Robicheaux by James Lee Burke (New Iberia)
- Jerry “Renegade” Roe by L.V. Roper (New Orleans)
- Danielle Ross by Gilbert Morris (New Orleans)
- Jake Rubidoux by Lee Hutson (New Orleans)
- Valentin St. Cyr by David Fulmer (Storyville, turn of the century)
- Cliff St. James by Ed Kovacs (New Orleans)
- Nick Travers by Ace Atkins
