Harley-Davidson Topper Ad,
Featuring Edd “Kookie” Byrnes
Man, those were different times…
This was a print ad for the 1959 the Topper Scooter Moped, made and sold by the Harley-Davidson Motor Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, WI, featuring Edd “Kookie” Byrnes  from 77 Sunset Strip combing his hair (what else?). The show — and particularly Kookie, who became a teen idol — was a huge success for Warner Bros., and a glut of spin off merchandise was released to cash in, including record albums, board games, toys and the like.
