Jack Hennessey

Created by Vy Kava

JACK HENNESSEY is a private eye in Eastbrook, Connecticut, with a brand new office (the last one having been torched by an ungrateful client), a 10-year-old green Ford truck, and an assistant named Rena with cornrows, who manages things for him. He made his debut in the 2020 novella “Seeing the Truth”, the first in a proposed series.

Yeah, a novella.

It seems the author, Vy Kava, has a thing for shorter fiction, with her work appearing in Flash Bank Mysteries, Mystery Weekly Magazine, and other places, including her own collection of short stories, Murder on My Mind. She was the 2016 winner of the Derringer Award from the Short Mystery Fiction Society for the “Best Flash Story,” and has received numerous honorable mentions for her flash fiction from the Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine. Vy currently lives in Connecticut with her husband John, and the best four-legged friend, Jake, where she is presently working on the next Jack Hennessey escapade. She was a finalist in the Rocky Mountain Mystery Writers of America 2020 in the 6-word Mystery Contest in the Thriller category.

Here’s her entry:

“House ablaze, husband watched, now single.”
