Hannah Smith

Created by Randy Wayne White

HANNAH SMITH is no shrinking violet — she’s a big, strong, kickass woman, descended from a long line of strong Florida women, who isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. Or bloody.

She makes her living as a southwest Florida fishing guide, but she knows her way around more than good spots where they’re biting. She’s also a part-time P.I., working as a problem solver for her friends, neighbors, and even sometimes, a paying client.

Think of her as yet another oddball semi-legit crusading knight, occasionally for hire, very much following in the footsteps of Travis McGee, John Lutz’s Carver by John Lutz, Jonothan King’s Max Freeman, Geoffrey Norman’s Morgan Hunt, James W. Hall’s Thorn by James W. Hall and of course, Randy Wayne White’s own Doc Ford, for whom Hannah has a bit of a thing.

White, of course, is the author of over twenty Doc Ford novels (and counting), as well as four collections of nonfiction. He lives on Sanibel Island, Florida, where he was a light-tackle fishing guide for many years, and spends much of his free time windsurfing, playing baseball, and hanging out at Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille.
