CAITLIN BERGMAN is a tart-tongued and dogged Los Angeles-based crime reporter for both print and media, and the author of a bestselling book, Fallen Angels, an expose of a prostitution ring ran by a crooked cop, who cases invariably involve her personally. Somehow, her dark and predictably troubled past (including the obligatory sexual assault) always looms up, as she finds herself looking for a missing student at her old alma mater in Indiana (where’s she’s picking up an honorary degree twenty years after she “almost” graduated), or investigating the death of her estranged mother, a member of an Oregon cult of feisty feminists.
