Laconic former Texas Ranger JEFFERSON BIRCH is a sort of Old West private eye who works sometimes for Tisdale Investigations. He’s got a dark past that troubles him some, and a pal, Swede, who lends a hand now and then, in this 1990s series of hardcover westerns (later reprinted in large print) by W.W. “Wendi” Lee.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

W.W. (Wendi) Lee is also responsible for the contemporary Boston private eye Angie Matelli series. And keeping it all in the family, she was married to cartoonist Terry Beatty, co-creator with Max Allan Collins of comic book eyes Ms. Tree and Mike Mist. Lee has also taught writing workshops, and even worked as an associate editor of Mystery Scene magazine for several years. She’s also responsible for  a well-received American historical called The Overland Trail (1996) for the Tor/Forge Women of the West series, and is a member of the Private Eye Writers of America, The Mystery Writers of America, The Western Writers of America and Women Writing the West.
