Not satisfied with the official verdict of suicide, she hooks up with corner-cutting local private investigator WAYNE CAPSON, a man with his own way of doing things. Together they start poking around. And Sloane’s painful, troubled past comes roaring back, ready to bite her on the ass
By its Shamus-nominated sequel, Call of the Void (2024), Sloane’s still got plenty of issues, but she’s taken a big step up, becoming an actual private investigator (with a license and everything!), working with Wayne. And once again, their cases take them all over Vancouver, from film sets and dive bars to mansions to back alleys, lifting up the rocks to see what’s squirming underneath.
Vancouver may be one of North America’s most beautiful cities, but that’s not what this series is about.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
J.T. Siemens moved to Vancouver with dreamers of becoming a personal trainer, but ended up writing crime fiction. Go figure. He studied screenwriting at Capilano University, and then creative writing at the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University. To Those Who Killed Me, his first book in the Sloane Donovan series, was nominated for the Arthur Ellis Unhanged Award and was published in 2022. He lives in the West End of Vancouver with his fiancée and two cats.
