In this 2021 seasonal rom-com/mystery, LANA “LANIE” LAWTON is a lawyer-turned-rookie PI trying to make a name for herself by solving a rash of burglaries that have been plaguing her predictably picturesque hometown.
Stepping in to help are Nick, a hunky (naturally!) local police detective already working the case and Teddy, her equally hunky (of course!) high school boyfriend.
Oh, gosh. Like the blurb says, “it might be her own heart that gets stolen this time.”
But beyond the usual romantic entanglements, there’s another complication: the number one suspect is… Santa Claus.
The first person voiceovers are a rarity for this type of film, but don’t expect too much hard-boiled patter — this made-for-TV movie is just about what you’d expect: soft and mushy, with a slew of Christmassy trimmings: the over-decorating of everything, the fake snow, the holly jolly soundtrack crammed with plenty of public domain holiday music.
The real mystery, of course, has nothing to do with the break-ins, but if Lanie will hook up with Nick or Teddy.
