Call for Submissions
Attention, all short story-writing types–time-worn veterans, eager newcomers, and all those who fall in between–the folks at New York City’s landmark Mysterious Bookstore are now screening submissions for The Mysterious Bookshop Presents the Best Mysteries of the Year 2022 through the end of the year. It’s already the second in what we hope will be a long-running anthology series, and they’re certainly kicking things off with a bang: the guest editor is Lee Child, and the series editor–in case you didn’t see it coming–is Otto Penzler. Maybe you heard of him.
With the growing amount of short fiction coming out, not to mention its being spread over so much “reading territory,” it’s a simply a very definite challenge to stay aware of everything.
Anyway, if you think your story, which was published in 2021, has all the right stuff, don’t be shy. The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2021, although the earlier sent in the better, simply because of the holidays.”
Please send only hard copies–o.therwise, it’s too difficult to keep it all organized (believe me).
Also, please include some documentation, as to where the story was initially published and when. (Which must be between January 1st and December 31st, 2020.
Also, the authors no longer have to be only American or Canadian; however, no translations, please.
And if you didn’t have a story published this year, feel free to pass this info on. Remember: the more reaching out, the better.
Of course, I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
With thanks and best, as always,
Copies should be mailed to (please, no digital submissions):
