CONAN FLAGG is the owner proprietor of the Holliday Beach Bookshop and Rental Library, and a sometime-private investigator (he likes to keep that on the down low) who lives in Holliday Beach, Oregon, a peaceful town on the coast.
Life is good for Conan. He drives a Jag, has a classy girlfriend (a globetrotting classical pianist) and never seems to worry about money. The bookstore is run by Miss Dobie, an elderly employee who keeps an eye on things, including Meg, the store cat (a Siamese, if you must know), while his housekeeper Mrs. Early mans the home front.
No wonder he’d like to take it easy.
And yet, trouble seems to always somehow find a way to his door…
