Add MIKE SEGRETTO to the growing list of Old West eyes. He’s a frontier-era Pinkerton op, loosely modeled on Charlie Siringo, who calls Texas home. He made his debut, the first in a proposed series of so-called western/mystery hybrids, in the February 2002 issue of HandHeldCrime.
Sadly, it doesn’t look like there’s been any other stories.
Not that that’s stopped author Scott Morrison, a pen name of career cop Jim Doherty, a super-fan of the genre who has written a slew of short stories, novels, op-eds and even letters to the editor to the Ms. Tree comic book, which is where I first stumbled across him. Seems we’ve been crossing paths ever since.
