Coming soon to a television set near you (if you live in China) is Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries.

But this is not the one you think, starring the delectable Essie Davis as the crime-busting, murder-solving socialite and private detective. Nope, this one is In Mandarin, set in 1930s Shanghai, and starring popular Chinese actress Yili Ma as the young, glamorous detective.

This could be cool. In the thirties, Shanghai was an open city, a trendy hot spot where foreigners and Chinese alike could enjoy all sorts of off-the-books pleasures.

It’s the first-ever Mandarin-language adaptation of an Australian TV drama.

As soon as I know more, I’ll pass it on…
