“Gloria doesn’t care from legal.”
— Bannon tries to explain Gloria
GLORIA MORRIS is a smart, literate San Francisco private eye; a B-girl with a good rep and an “explosive sense of honor.”
I’m not quite sure what that means, but I assume it means that you shouldn’t mess with the former cop and Army vet; that she can take care of herself. She’s working as a P.I. now, but she really has only one client, wealthy attorney, law professor and legal scholar Sheridan Bannon, for whom she does research, hunting down legal documents, lost documents and occasionally… missing persons.
Which is swell, because the quick-tempered Gloria prefers more hands-on assignments. She also “cherishes frisky ladies, reads Poe and Twain, believes in justice, and kicks a lot of ass.”
The author, Gloria Rae Browda, has a master’s degree from the University of California and a black belt in Okinawan Karate, and has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for most of her life. She says “I admire the beauty, humor, and energy of hard-boiled colloquial American English and write in that style.”
