Some Nice Jewish Eyes
Okay, this list is far from inclusive, but then, the religion of the detective rarely comes up in the Shamus Game. Sometimes it may be implied, and sometimes maybe it’s mentioned just in passing, but mostly… meh.
Like, was Sherlock Holmes Anglican? Was Marlowe a Methodist? Was Sam Spade a Seventh Day Adventist? Does it matter?
But sometimes it does matter, at least to someone. Like the guys below make a point of mentioning it. And Max Spitzkop , the earliest example of a Jewish eye I could find, made a BIG point of it.
- Max Spitzkopf by Yoyne (Jonas) Kreppel
Early 20th century - Moses Wine by Roger Simon
- Dave Brodsky by Jay Tarses
- Benny Cooperman by Howard Engel
- Stuart Kovacs by Sarah Weinman
- “Silky” Pincus by Leo Rosten
- Joe Posner by Jeremy Pikser
- Moe Prager by Reed Farrel Coleman
- Lenny Schneider by Ed Goldberg
- Kaiser Lupowitz by Woody Allen
