If you’re in a jam, when in Rome…
Give CASTAGNETTI, a private eye working out of Parma, in northern Italy, although he’s willing to travel.
But be carefull– “Casta” is not your typical bon vivant Italian gentleman detective–he’s no smooth-talking, well-dressed chick magnet going on (and on) about endless lovingly prepared and lengthy meals, although he will cop to a taste for booze and women.
No, he’s cynical and angry (and the narrator of his own adventures), a sometimes violent and charm-free bruiser with a shaved head and plenty of attitude, not afraid to speak his mind, sickened by the systematic injustice and malfeasance he sees all around him, particularly among the elite of Italian society–although he’s not always so fussy on how he works his own cases.
An orphan who grew up hard, then, but he’s patient and disciplined enough to keep bees as a hobby (a passion he shares with that Holmes guy), admiring them for their neatly run and civil society, where everyone knows their place… and the rules.
But if he takes your case, he will get the job done.

UNDER OATH
- “A fast-talking, pocket-sized box-ticker of a private-dick novel… Castagnetti will be back, no danger: he is too good a creation to be restricted to a single case.”
