My Scrapbook: Jim Rockford’s Trailer… in Matchbox Scale

Jim Rockford’s Trailer… in Matchbox Scale
By Stefan Halushka

Saw this on Facebook, and just had to share this amazing Matchbox-scale diorama of Jim Rockford‘s trailer and Firebird, lovingly crafted by Stefan Halushka.

One of Stefan’s hobbies is recreating Hot Wheels/Matchbox-scale scenes featuring vehicles from film and television scenes.

“I had been wanting to do Jim Rockford’s iconic trailer for awhile but no diecast manufacturer was making an accurate version…” says Stefan. Meanwhile, the car itself is actually a 1971 Firebird from Matchbox, the closest thing Stefan could find to a 1974. “Even then I had to grind off the hood scoops, but I think it’s damn close.”

He ended up making the trailer from printed out templates and some other printable building sources, adding “it took me at least three iterations before I got it right… I was just happy to be able to find crappy looking lawn furniture.”

The former modeler in me gives this a huge thumbs up.

  1. Great pictures from Rockfordland…
Any and all Rockford Files info is greatly appreciated.
    Bravo!

  2. This is awesome! When I first saw your article title in my email, I opened it hoping to buy one, but looks like its a one-of-a-kind. If he ever mass produces, I’m in.
