Vince Pope

Created by Michael A. Black

Author Black riffs on Hammett’s The Thin Man with a string of short stories featuring former private eye VINCE POPE and his sexy (and very wealthy) socialite wife Laura.

Set in the years immediately following World War II, Vince, a returning vet, decides to shuck his gig as a “pretty well known” Big Apple gumshoe and see how the other half lives, when he marries Laura and lives out on Long Island at her parent’s estate.

Of course, despite his best intentions, the usual kind of trouble always seem to find Vince and Laura… up to and including a serial killer who may just be the Mad Butcher of Kingsbury Run, who may have relocated from Cleveland to Long Island in the novella-length “Pope’s Last Case.”

Last case? That’s what the author says.

But then he adds, “Vince and Laura might return if and when the time is right.”
