Judd Brody

You’ve got to hand it to Harlequin.

Although they’re best known as the purveyors about a zillion pulpy, sappy romance novels, this once-Canadian publishing dynasty (founded way back in 1949 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) initially published everything and anything they could get their hands on: mystery, western, science fiction, sports, adventure, cookbooks, nonfiction and even “literature,” as well as, of course, romance, they haven’t quite turned their back on crime and detective fiction. Especially if there’s a little body heat involved.

A case in point: the Brody Law series by Carol Ericson about four brothers (all hunka-hunks of burning love and all in law enforcement). They each get a book to shine in, including .45-toting San Francisco private investigator JUDD BRODY, who gets to wrap up the series in book #4, The Hill (2014)

Judd specializes in personal security, so he’s used he’s used to working as a bodyguard, but’s he’s never had to protect anyone quite like sexy, tantalizing blonde socialite London Breck.

Initially, he figured this would be a slam dunk–an easy enough gig, filled with parties, limos and swank hotels, guarding yet another slightly paranoid celebrity; his biggest challenge shooing away over-eager papparzzi and fans.

But London isn’t quite the spoiled, vapid wild child of the tabloids that he expected, and she may be in bigger danger than he expected.

Plus, he can’t deny there’s some sort of mutual sparks flying between him and London.

Stop if you’ve heard this one before…
